PETAL — Services for James “Jimmy” Havard Sr., 74, of Petal, who died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at Forest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Ron Ledford and the Rev. John Smith officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Vidalia.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Havard was born Sept. 9, 1935, in Roxie, the son of William Wallace Havard and Eva Graves Havard. He was a resident of Petal and a member of Bible Baptist Church of Petal and Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Vidalia.

He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wayne Ray Havard and one great-granddaughter, London Rylie Knight.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Betty Havard; two sons, Ronald Havard of Natchez and James Havard Jr. and wife Kellie of Petal; one daughter, Debbie Bryant and husband Richard of Petal; two brothers, Willie Havard and wife Joe of Roxie and Hilton Havard and wife Dee of Summit; three sisters, Ruth Shires and husband Chester of Natchez, Barbara Corken and Betty Smith, both of Wesson; four granddaughters, Shayna Havard, Crissy Havard, Paige Luckett and husband Duane and Christa Knight; one grandson, Jamie Havard; three great-grandsons, Lane Knight, Isaih Havard and Tyler Campfield and three great-granddaughters, Lynley Knight, Savannah Ventura and Veronica Ventura.

Pallbearers will be Duane Luckett, Richard Bryant, Steve Lewis, Justin Peacock, James Havard Jr. and Ronald Havard.

Honorary pallbearers will be George Wooten, Boyde Sojourner, Ralph Yawn and Roy Johnson.
