BAKER, La. — After having their last two games postponed because of the recent blast of cold weather, the Adams County Christian School Lady Rebels returned to action Tuesday night against Central Private School.

After a very sluggish first quarter for both teams, ACCS dominated Central Private over the next three quarters en route to a 39-22 win over the host Lady Rebels in an MAIS District 5-AA game.

The first quarter was indeed a low-scoring one as Central Private made no shots from the field and ACCS wasn’t much better. The quarter ended with the visiting Lady Rebels from Natchez holding a 4-1 lead. The second quarter was when ACCS started to pull away from Central Private with a 14-7 advantage for an 18-8 lead at halftime.

Central Private played better on its end of the court in the third quarter and scored 14 points. However, it could not make enough stops on defense to get back in the game as ACCS ended up with 17 points in that quarter for a 35-22 lead.

Yet the fourth quarter was very similar to the first quarter except for one thing — Central Private was held without a single point.

Taylor Welch led ACCS (16-6, 3-1) with 13 points and Katilan Melton had nine points. Cameron Buckner led Central Private with six points.

Warren Central 52, Natchez High 51

VICKSBURG — The fourth quarter blues continue to plague the Natchez High Lady Bulldogs this season. They took a 10-point lead over Warren Central into the fourth quarter, only to turn that into a one-point loss to the Lady Vikings Tuesday night.

The first quarter went back and forth between the two teams, which ended with Warren Central leading 12-10. But the second quarter was a completely different story as Natchez High scored 15 points while Warren Central scored just six points, giving the Lady Bulldogs a 25-18 halftime lead.

While the Lady Vikings picked up the tempo on offense and scored 14 points in the third quarter, the Lady Bulldogs did even better with 17 points for a 42-32 lead.

However, once the fourth quarter got going, the Lady Bulldogs fell apart and the Lady Vikings took advantage. Led by Ricille Davis and Michelle Jones, Warren Central scored 20 points in the final eight minutes while Natchez High (10-9) had just nine points.

Anastasia Hutchins scored 15 points and Keosha Bradley added 14 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs. Davis finished with a game-high 24 points while Jones, as well as Shaqulla Neal, each had 11 points for the Lady Vikings.

WCCA 56, Centreville 43

CENTREVILLE — Even though the Wilkinson County Christian Academy Lady Rams went into Tuesday night’s game at Centreville Academy with a better overall record, the Lady Tigers went into the game with a better record in MAIS District 5-AA.

The latter part of that changed as the Lady Rams, led by Caroline Walker and Terri Fisher, rolled to a 13-point win over the Lady Tigers for a key district win.

Despite getting a game-high 24 points from Katie Berry, Centreville did not have enough offensive firepower to keep up with WCCA on this night. The Lady Rams jumped out to an 18-11 lead after one quarter of play and 32-22 at halftime.

Walker led WCCA (8-10, 2-2) with 22 points while Fisher ended up with 13 points and Mary Claire Netterville added 10 points. Centreville fell to 2-2 in district play.

Bogue Chitto 75, Cathedral 31

BOGUE CHITTO — Teareon Rogers, Aneshia Dillon and Adrienne Hall combined to score 45 points in leading the Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats to a 44-point win over the Cathedral Lady Green Wave Tuesday night in Region 7-1A action.

Bogue Chitto pretty much had its way with Cathedral on both ends of the court in this game. The Lady Green Wave were held to under 10 points in each of the first three quarters and their defense had no answer for the Lady Bobcats, who led 59-21 at the end of the third quarter.

Rogers led all scorers with 20 points, followed by Dillon with 15 points and Hall with 10 points. Cathedral (5-8, 1-2) was led by Blair Brooks with eight points and Mae Durkin with six points.

Avoyelles Charter 54, Monterey 47

MANSURA, La. — After winning 17 of their first 22 games of the season, the Monterey Lady Wolves were looking to keep their momentum going on the road against Avoyelles Charter in their District 3-B opener Tuesday night.

But the Lady Vikings had other ideas as they rallied in the second half behind Cora Lacombe, Katie Mayeaux and Summer Brooks for a seven-point victory over the Lady Wolves.

Monterey led Avoyelles Charter 13-12 at the end of the first quarter, but the Lady Wolves could not pull away in the second quarter and led by just two points at halftime. The Lady Vikings outscored the Lady Wolves 18-14 in the third quarter for a 35-33 lead.

Lacombe scored a game-high 18 points for Avoyelles Charter while Mayeaux scored 12 points and Brooks had 11 points. Kendall Lipsey and Rachel Pecanty led Monterey (17-6, 0-1) with 13 points each and Ariel Hector chipped in with 10 points.

Buckeye 59, Vidalia 11

BUCKEYE, La. — Dani Carter led all scorers with 21 points and Kristen Duncart had 12 points to lead the Buckeye Lady Panthers to an easy win over the Vidalia Lady Vikings in a District 3-3A game Tuesday night.

Buckeye jumped out to a 14-2 lead over Vidalia at the end of the first quarter and then had a commanding 35-3 halftime lead.

Christina Moore and Gabby Wagoner scored four points each for Vidalia (0-13, 0-4).
