METAIRIE, La. (AP) — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Metairie man accused of shooting and robbing someone he’d arranged to meet through a dating service.

Authorities say the victim, a 23-year-old Metairie man who was dressed as a woman at the time, was shot eight times in the face, chest, back, buttocks and thigh. He’s listed as stable at an area hospital.

Investigators on Monday arrested 21-year-old Walter Conley on charges of attempted second-degree murder and armed robbery. The arrest report says Conley admitted to the shooting and robbery.

The victim told authorities he’d made arrangements to meet with an unknown man through a dating service on Jan. 15. After meeting, Conley got into the victim’s car, pulled a gun and demanded the victim’s purse, money and cellular telephone. The victim got out and tried to run, but the man opened fire and then drove off in the victim’s car.
