NATCHEZ — Services for Myrtis Marie Prather, 87, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Darian Duckworth officiating.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at Sulphur Bluff Cemetery in Sulphur Bluff, Texas, with the Rev. Ed Dodd officiating.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at Sulphur Bluff United Methodist Church under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home in Sulpher Springs, Texas.

Mrs. Prather was born Sept. 7, 1922, in Texas, the daughter of Oliver M. Bassham and Flonnie Ann Emerson Bassham. She was a charter member of Grace United Methodist Church and was a member of the Lois Elkin Circle of the United Methodist Women for more than 50 years. She was a longtime member of the Adams County Home Demonstration Club and was once named its Woman of the Year.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Arthur Arlton Prather; one sister, Wanda Singleton; and one grandson, Jordan Andrew Buckingham.

Survivors include three daughters, Judith Buckingham and husband, James, of Nacogdoches, Texas, Debra Gee of Natchez and Lydia Ballentine and husband, Ron, of Rickmond, Va.; three granddaughters, Stephanie Gee Beaver and husband, Shannon, of Madison, Emily Buckingham Mitchell and husband, Brandon, of Roslin, Scotland and Susan Ballentine of Richmond, Va.; one great-granddaughter, Ashlynn Beaver; one brother, George Bassham of Dike, Texas; and one sister, Ollie Bell Holley of Tyler, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Jack Cox, Ray Baker, Chuck Mayfield, Jim Buckingham, Ron Ballentine and Shannon Beaver.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men’s Club at Grace United Methodist Church.
