NATCHEZ — Services for Virginia Lee Long Combs, 87, of Natchez, who died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at her residence, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

Mrs. Combs was born Sept. 24, 1922, in Granite, Okla., the daughter of William Howard Long and Laurabel Slaten Long.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Carl Wiley Combs.

Survivors include one daughter, Ann Combs Tillman and husband, Randy; one son, Robert Carl Combs and wife, Jennifer, all of Natchez; 10 grandchildren, Katherine “K.C.” Williams and husband, Wes, Catherine Whalen and husband, John, Clifford Tillman Jr., and wife, Katie, Jenny Terrell and husband, Brian, Margaret Ayres and husband, Brian, Kelley Walker and husband, Brad, Rebecca Jex and husband, Kellen, Laura Tillman, Rachel Tillman and Carleigh Combs; 11 great-grandchildren; long-time companion, Elmer Carby of Natchez; one brother, William Howard long Jr., and wife, Joan, of Baton Rouge; one brother-in-law, Dr. Leon Combs of Shawnee, Okla., and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be John Joseph Whalen III, Clifford Randolph Tillman Jr., Brian Thomas Ayres, Kellen Travis Jex, Charles Wesley Williams Jr., Brian Terrell, Kenneth Bradley Walker, Edgar Hyde Carby, Gaston Chalk Carby, Joey Everett, Stephen Everett, Bishop Carby and Paul Carby.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary Basilica Capital Campaign or Adams County Humane Society.
