NATCHEZ — Services for Aldenia B. Walker, 85, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jerusalem Baptist Church No. 2, in Kingston, with the Rev. Willie R. Anderson and Bishop Rodger Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday, both at the church.
Mrs. Walker was born June 18, 1924, in Franklin County, the daughter of Willie and Mary Jane McCoy Birdie. She was a matron of Deborah Chapter No. 5 Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Richard Johnson and Fred Walker; one son, Wilbert Birdie; nine sisters, Irene Green, Isabelle Spikes, Louise O’Neal, Perlena Green, Gertrude McShane, Margaret Dunmore, Roosevelt Birdie, Lucille Jenkins and Lenora Absion; and one brother, Anthony Birdie.
Survivors include two loving daughters, Dorothy Johnson and husband, Freddie, of El Paso, Texas and Margaux Engebretsen and husband, Bery, of Des Moines, Iowa; three devoted sons, Richard Johnson Jr., and wife, Pearlina, of Natchez, Elmer Lee Johnson of Milwaukee, Wis., and Bishop Roger Johnson and wife, Linda, of Ypsilanti, Mich.; one brother, Willie Birdie of Kingston; 12 grandchildren, Kenneth Birdie, Karen Richardson, Lovatta Rosha Yates, Freddie Johnson III, Gregory Johnson, Shelia Johnson, Richard Johnson III, Tiffany Johnson, Shantel Johnson, Sheena Johnson, Sharmie Taylor and Roger Johnson Jr.; 21 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Freddie Johnson III, Gregory Johnson, Earl Richardson, Elmer Lee Johnson, Alvin Yates and Richard Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Birdie, Jessie White, Louis White, Leslie Green and Freddie Johnson Jr.
