2 dead in car crash

VIDALIA — A Tennessee man and a young boy died Friday from injuries sustained after their vehicle crashed in Bayou Cocodrie, becoming submerged in Cross Bayou.
The passengers were reportedly traveling in a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Bretton Dickson from a location in Tennessee to Deville, La., a Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office release said.
Dickson, 32, who was not seriously injured, was driving westbound on U.S. 84 east of Louisiana 566 in Concordia Parish. Dickson apparently lost control and exited the left side of the roadway, into the bayou.
Bradley L. Dickson, 4, and Ronald E. Dickson, 58, were killed.
Stephanie Vincent, 28, and a 9-year-old were injured and transported to Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday.
All passengers were from Shelbyville, Tenn.
None of the passengers were wearing seat belts.
The accident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m., and CPSO and State Police responded.
After one of the victims made his way to a residence near the scene, a four-hour manhunt to locate the 4-year-old child ensued.
At approximately 8:30 a.m., the child was located and transported to Riverland Medical Center.
The rescue effort included sheriff’s deputies, the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agents, Concordia Fire District No. 2, divers, the Louisiana State Police and others.
The accident is being investigated by the LSP.
