“It was going good for me today,” Edwards said. “My fastball, changeup and slider were all working well, and we didn’t make any errors.”

Edwards also said that getting his first collegiate win was big for him personally, especially since he’s had to fight through an injured shoulder.

“I have an inflamed rotator cuff, and I’ve been missing out, so it was finally good to get on the hill. I took two weeks off, got a cortisone shot, and now it doesn’t bother me.”

Going forward, Edwards said he doesn’t anticipate the injury causing too many problems.

“The doctors have said it will be fine,” he said. “I just have to keep stretching it. They said to just take a couple of days off if it starts bothering me.”
