Henry Dodge

FERRIDAY — Services for Henry Warren Dodge, 67, of Monterey, who died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, will be at 10 a.m. today with the Rev. Gene Lee and the Rev. Mack Walker officiating.
Burial will follow at Monterey Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Dodge was born Nov. 3, 1942, in Lismore, La., the son of Melvin Dodge and Myrl Dodge. He was a member of Monterey Baptist Church.
Mr. Dodge was employed by Concordia Parish Correctional Facility as a lieutenant supervisor at the correctional auto shop for 12 years.
Henry never met a stranger. He was a devoted husband and father. Henry was a Ham radio operator which brought him a number of friends countrywide. While employed by the correctional facility, he drove a large bus to New Orleans to assist with the inmate transfers after Katrina. He also helped with the search and rescue unit for the sheriff’s office. Due to his respect and kind treatment to the inmates in the auto shop, they were able to receive better jobs outside of the facility.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Percy L. Dodge; and one sister, Juanita McLauchlin.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, JoAnn Dodge; one son, John Victor Dodge and wife, Barbara, of New Boston, Texas; one daughter, Kathy Dodge of Monterey; and five granddaughters, Eva, Lia, Kelsey, Autumn and Delaney.
Pallbearers will be Paul Harper, Paul Lee, Neil Mohon, Roger McDonald, Keith Boothe and Chris Groh.
Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Langer and Chris Brock.
