JACKSON (AP) — Mississippi state Sen. Jack Gordon of Okolona remained hospitalized Monday and his condition was upgraded from critical to good.

Sen. Terry Burton tells Capitol colleagues that Gordon is awake and has been walking and talking. Burton says Gordon is ‘‘cantankerous’’ and wants to get out of the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Officials haven’t said why the 66-year-old Democrat was rushed early Sunday to UMC. Burton says physicians are running tests.
