DEKALB (AP) — The Kemper County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a 56-year-old woman on a charge of disorderly conduct and ‘‘doing harm to herself’’ after dozens of dogs and several cats were found inside her home, in pens and in a dilapidated mobile home outside.
Authorities say Virginia Robinson was hoarding an estimated 75 to 100 dogs on her property off Mississippi 495 about 12 miles from DeKalb. Inside the house was ankle-deep filth and an overwhelming stench of urine and dog feces.
Dr. Mary Fooshee, a veterinarian, says she’s worked a lot of cruelty cases and the Robinson case is the worst she’s seen in 20 years.
