Laverne Thomas

NATCHEZ — Services for Laverne Thomas, 49, of Natchez, who died Monday, March 8, 2010, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark No. 2 Baptist Church.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Monroe, La.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church.

Ms. Thomas was born Jan. 15, 1961, the daughter of Pauline Adams. She was baptized at an early age by the Rev. James Anderson.

In 1968, Ms. Thomas and Clarence Reynolds became the parents to their little angel, Jena Renee Thomas.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mariah Washington and stepfather, Duncan Adams.

Survivors include her daughter; her mother; two sisters, Lillie Sheffield and husband, Charles, of Las Vegas and Debra Smith and husband, Robert, of Camden, Ark.; two brothers, Roger Thomas and Jerry Lee Thomas, both of Natchez; one nephew, Pacardo Thomas Jr.; three nieces, LaToya Ederson and Jelyssia Norman, both of Camden, and DeJah Thomas of Las Vegas; two special cousins, Larry T. Thomas and Brittany Thomas; three aunts, Marie Thomas, Lucille Jackson and Mary Ruth Davis and husband, Dan, all of Natchez; one uncle, Lee Joy McCoy and wife, Edna, of Natchez; and a number of other relatives and friends.

The family extends special thanks to Mrs. Beverly Harris for being there to help our mother and sister.
