NATCHEZ — Services for Eliza Pickett, 98, of Ferriday, formerly of Vidalia and Natchez, who died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Zion Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Birdon Mitchell Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Mrs. Pickett was born April 11, 1911, in Natchez, the daughter of James and Patient Williams.

Mrs. Pickett loved to travel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Pickett; her parents; and three siblings, Sam, James Jr., and Abe.

Survivors include two children that she and her husband adopted, Marie Smith of Michigan and Marquive Smith of Nashville, Tenn.; five nieces and nephews, Annie Bell of Roxie, Abe and his wife of Los Angeles, Annie Eliza of Los Angeles, Floyd of Natchez and John C. Brown and wife, Aurelia, of Wichita Falls, Texas; her adopted family, Everett and Judge Lillie Blackmon Sanders and their daughters, Aisha and Keshia Sanders.

John C. and Aurelia Brown and the Sanders family express their gratefulness for the love shown to Mrs. Pickett until the end of her life.
