NATCHEZ — It’s been years since they worked together, but former employees of the Natchez tire plant will come back together Saturday to talk shop when they have their annual reunion.

The reunion is open to all former salaried and hourly employees of Armstrong Tire, Fidelity Tire and Titan Tire, the three companies that ran the tire plant, former Armstrong Tire Company employee Harry Staley said.

The widows and widowers of former employees are also welcome, he said.

The reunion is organized by a group of former employees, and has become an annual event over the last five years.

“It is mainly just a get-together, a chance to have food and socialize,” Staley said. “It is a chance to get together and renew old friendships.”

Approximately 150 former employees attended the event last year.

“A good many people come every year,” Staley said.

“We had people who worked there over in Louisiana, in Franklin County, in Wilkinson County back in those days.”

But this could be the last chance for all the old work buddies to get together.

“This could be the last year we do it,” Staley said. “There are getting to be fewer retirees every year.”

“I personally know of a half dozen we have lost since last year.”

But those who are still around are welcome to come to the reunion, which will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Natchez Shrine Club located at 229 Morgantown Road.

Lunch will be served at noon.

Staley said admission will be $5 per person to pay for the cost of renting the building, and that everyone is asked to bring a covered dish.

Drinks will be provided.
