WOODVILLE — Services for Enloe Mays “Sonny” Kee Jr., 90, of Woodville, who died Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Field Memorial Community Hospital in Centreville, will be at 11 a.m. today at Woodville Baptist Church with Dr. Robert G. Muncy Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Woodville under the direction of Newman Funeral Home in Centreville.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. Kee was born Oct. 28, 1919, in Woodville, the oldest son of E.M. Kee and Nellie Lyman Kee. His childhood, college years and later life were filled with a passion for sports activities and a zeal for supporting and encouraging younger athletes. He was a member of the track team at Mississippi State University and attended the University of Alabama. Sonny was also a veteran of World War II.
Sonny was owner of Kee Ranch where he owned an extensive farm and cattle operation. The list of business, religious, civic and fraternal organizations which he headed or served, reflects his keen interest in all aspects of good citizenship.
At Woodville Baptist Church, he served as Sunday school teacher and leader in almost every aspect. He served as president and a founder of Wilkinson County Christian Academy. Sonny served on the boards of the Commercial Bank in Woodville, Wilkinson County Savings and Loan Association, the Bank of St. Francisville and American Bank and Trust Company in Baton Rouge.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Thomas Lyman Kee.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Carolyn Sessions Kee; one daughter, Deborah Kee Vines and husband, James Dennis Vines; one son, Enloe Mays Kee III and wife, Toni Jones Kee; five grandchildren, Chadwick Vines, Michelle Vines Didier and husband, Dan, Kelly Kee, Enloe Mays Kee IV and wife, Aelis, and Caroline Kee Curro and husband, Jerome; four great-grandchildren, Kiaya and Raiff Kee, Merill Didier and Kee Curro; and one sister, Martha Kee Hewes.
Pallbearers will be Mays Kee IV, Chad Vines, Jerome Curro, Dan Didier, Collins Hewes Jr. and Tim Sessions.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Woodville Baptist Church, Dr. Jennings Owens, Dr. Bob Lewis and Dr. David McGraw.
