JONESVILLE — Services for Maxine Spinks Brown, 70, of Jonesville, who died Wednesday, March 24, 2010, will be at 2 p.m. today at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Craig James officiating.
Burial will follow at Heard Cemetery in Manifest La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville.
Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the church.
Mrs. Brown was born Jan. 11, 1940, the daughter of James H. Sikes and Tessie Sikes Cloessner. She was retired after 20 years of teaching and coaching. She worked as a hair stylist until 2001. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Herman E. Spinks; her father; one brother, Billy Sikes; and two sisters, Sue Smith and Margie Sikes.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Brown; her mother; one son, Denny Ray Spinks and wife, Elizabeth; one daughter, Amy Renee Huffman and husband, Gerald; all of Pineville, La.; eight grandchildren, Carter Spinks, Cameron Spinks, Malorie Huffman, Ty Huffman and Mia Huffman, all of Pineville, Chantelle Brown of Memphis, Tenn., Eric and Christy Crawford, all of Marshall, Texas; one stepson, Mark Brown and wife, Shelia, of Balahay; one stepdaughter, Kimberly Crawford and husband, Mike, of Marshall; one sister, Lydia Essmeire of Jonesboro, La.; two brothers, Kenneth Sikes and Doyle Sikes, both of Jonesville; and a special group of friends, The Golden Girls.
Pallbearers will be Don Templeton, Bill Cockerham, Shelby Beasley, Buddy Trisler, Leo Chappelle and Byrom McCarver.
Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Parish, H.C. White, Carter Spinks, Cameron Spinks, Ty Huffman, Michael Oxley, Jimmy Easterling, Henry Arthur Taliaferro Jr. and Clarence Mayes.
