VIDALIA — A man was arrested Thursday and charged with second-degree battery after he allegedly caused another person to fall from a ladder.

Cameron D. Sweatt, 32, was arrested following the incident, which occurred at a location in the 900 block of Carter Street.

Sweatt and the victim were reportedly working at a construction site when the two became involved in an argument, Vidalia Police Chief Ronnie G. “Tapper” Hendricks said.

“The guy was on a 12-foot ladder, and (Sweatt) shook the ladder and knocked him off the ladder,” Hendricks said.

After the fall, the victim was reportedly rendered unconscious.

“According to the paramedics, he was actually unconscious for seven minutes after they got there,” Hendricks said.

The victim was taken to Natchez Community Hospital, where he was treated for a concussion and other injuries to his head and face before being released, Hendricks said.

No bond was set for the suspect Thursday.
