NATCHEZ — Services for Eddie Hoye, 80, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Anthony Colenberg officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
Mr. Hoye was born Aug. 22, 1929, in Church Hill, the son of Henry Hoye and Ruth Morris Hoye. He was a graduate of Natchez Junior College and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Jefferson Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church and was a member of the Steward Board.
He was employed by Johns Mansville, Diamond National and Premo Stallone, Inc. He was also a member of the Natchez Chapter of the American Legion No. 228.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elva Donaldson Hoye; one son, James Payne; one sister, Thelma Bass; five aunts; and six uncles.
Survivors include three daughters, Susan Brown and husband, Dennis, of Minneapolis, Minn., Luruth Davis and husband, Ernest, of Natchez and Joycee Cosby and husband, Ellis, of Jackson; one daughter-in-law, Arlene Payne; three sisters, Almeda Fitzgerald, Jessie Marshall and Johnnie Holley, all of Las Vegas; six brothers, Woodrow Hoye and wife, Bobbie, and Alfred Hoye, all of Riverside, Calif., Albert Hoye and wife, Thelma, Harris Hoye, Howard Hoye and wife, Catherine, and Elliott Hoye and wife, Ola Mae, all of Las Vegas; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie Hoye, Dennis Brown, Vanessa Brown, Herbert Lewis III, Henson Lewis, Steven Cosby, Adam Cosby, Adrainne Cosby, Jennifer Williams and Kenneth Payne; nine great-grandchildren, Herbert Lewis IV, Justin Lewis, Christian Lewis, Kyjah Young, Elijah Young, Armand Young Jr., Ashlee Williams, Dreyshaun Payne and Gregory May II; and a number of other relatives and friends.
