GSA ready to make right a wrong

I am pleased to respond to your recent article titled, “Local tribute to WWI heroes excludes many.” The General Services Administration is committed to addressing the issues highlighted by your article.
As you may know, the plaques honoring WWI era soldiers were added to the structure in 1924 when the building was remodeled and renamed Memorial Hall. The plaques remained in place as the building experienced several changes in ownership including GSA’s acquisition of the building in 2005.
The collective contributions of those who served must be respected and preserved. The GSA is committed to the task of honoring all — excluding none.
Over the next several months, the GSA will work with the community to determine the best approach to address this issue.
We are aware of the history that influenced this situation.
We embrace this effort as an opportunity to introduce ourselves anew to all those who answered the call to serve and defend our nation.
