Charles Strickland

MARIETTA, Ga. — Charles L. Strickland, 64 of Marietta, Ga., died Wednesday, April 7, 2010.
A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
Charles was born in Guntersville, Ala., the son of Silas and Faye Strickland of Guntersville/Sylacauga, Ala. He spent most of his childhood years in Sylacauga. He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity while attending Auburn University, graduating with a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering in 1968. After doing so, he and his wife moved to Natchez where he was employed by International Paper Company. In 1981, Charles and his family moved to Marietta where he was currently an industries specialist with SKF Industries.
One of his great interests was returning to Natchez every year for the Great Mississippi Hot-Air Balloon Race with old friends. For those who knew him, Charles was a man of few words but of a very large heart. He will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, a lifelong friend to number of people, as well as a respected peer throughout his industry.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Gwyn Barnard Strickland; two daughters, Caprice Strickland Page and husband, Chip, and Cathryn Strickland Neasham and husband, Derek; one sister, Nancy Strickland Creel; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Chase, Sela and Will; and one niece, Connie Creel.
