Daylight-saving time proposed year-round in Louisiana
BATON ROUGE, (AP) — Liking the recent switch to daylight-saving time? One lawmaker is proposing that Louisiana observe it year-round.
Abbeville Rep. Jonathan Perry’s bill would require a permanent ‘‘spring forward,’’ prohibiting the state from reverting back to standard time on Nov. 7, when most of the rest of the nation falls back an hour.
A planned Tuesday hearing on the bill was postponed until later in the legislative session.
Similar proposals have failed in the Louisiana Legislature in previous years, despite arguments the adjustment could reduce energy usage.
