Dr. Thomas Talkington

JACKSON — Services for Dr. Thomas Walton Talkington, who died Sunday, April 25, 2010, after a brief illness at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.

Burial will follow at Lakewood Cemetery under the direction of Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Jackson.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Dr. Talkington was born June 28, 1922, in Bogalusa, La., the son of a Baptist minister, Dr. Isaac Walton Talkington and Dora Clement Talkington. He was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.

Dr. Talkington was a Naval medical officer during the Korean War. He attended Mississippi College, Ole Miss and Tulane Medical Schools. He was a general practitioner in Natchez and practiced orthopedic surgery at Hinds General Hospital in Jackson for a number of years.

He was married to Gloria Mcgee Talkington for 32 years and for the last 25 years to Marjorie Gill Talkington.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. James Talkington of Panama City, Fla., and Thomas William Talkington of Kiln; five grandchildren, Grant, Grey and Lindsey Talkington and Chad and Tyler Talkington; and one sister, Odessa McAmis of San Francisco.
