ST. JOSEPH, La. — Services for Mark “Mason” Burks, 44, of St. Joseph, La., who died Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oneonta Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Reed officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Burks was born Jan. 22, 1966, in St. Joseph, the son of Mark James Mason and Mary Burks Mason.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Ernestine Whaley.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Davis Burks; his parents; four stepdaughters, Sophia, Khadija, Brittany and Markesa Davis, all of St. Joseph; two stepsons, Jamie Davis of New Orleans and Roy Davis of Lake Providence, La.; nine brothers, Willie Mason, Robert Mason, Thomas Mason and wife, Tina, Clarence Mason and wife, Vanessa, all of St. Joseph, Percy Burks and wife, Annie, of Lake Providence, Eddie Mason and wife, Elaine, of Baton Rouge, Ray Mason of Las Vegas, Reginald Mason of Meridian and Nathaniel Mason of Winnfield, La.; five sisters, Willie M. Allen and husband, John, of New Orleans, Mollie Shield of Tallulah, La., Gloria Mason of St. Joseph, Jarry Goldman and husband, Floyd, of Wisner, La., and Jimmie Bates and husband, Dennis, Gonzales, La.; and three grandchildren.
