NATCHEZ — Services for Gertha Heatherly Burgess, 90, of Natchez, who died Thursday, April 29, 2010, in Natchez, will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Parkway Baptist Church with the Rev. Bart Walker officiating.

Burial and graveside services will be at 5 p.m. today at Roseland Park Cemetery in Hattiesburg under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Mrs. Burgess was born Nov. 19, 1919, in Jellico, Tenn., the daughter of William Sherman and Thula Douglas Heatherly. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, James, Arthur and Paul; and two sisters, Lilly and Grace.

Survivors include one son, Michael Scott Burgess and wife, Mary, of Safety Harbor, Fla.; one daughter, Deborah Burgess Mizell and husband, Glenn, of Natchez; five grandchildren, Brian Redfield of North Brunswick, N.J., Nathan Redfield and wife, Samantha, of Brandon, Kimily Dement and husband, Justin, of Cookeville, Tenn., Matthew Burgess of Safety Harbor, Fla., and Amanda Mizell Hodges and husband, Ben, of Brookhaven; three great-grandchildren, Kaylee Dement of Cookeville, Grayson Hodges and Reid Hodges, both of Brookhaven.

Pallbearers will be Brian Redfield, Nathan Redfield, Matthew Burgess, Justin Dement, Ben Hodges and Glenn Mizell.

Memorials may be made to Parkway Baptist Church Building Fund, 117 Sgt. S. Prentiss Drive, Natchez, MS 39120.
