NEW ORLEANS — Todd McInnis held the Tulane offense to one run over seven innings as Southern Miss took game two of the of the series over Tulane, 4-2 in New Orleans Saturday afternoon.

With the win today, Southern Miss has won a season high six consecutive games and has now won four straight over Tulane, including the two wins over Tulane in last years C-USA Tournament.

McInnis (4-4) was outstanding once again, working seven innings allowing only one runs on seven hits while striking out six, the difference is today he was given enough run support to pick up the win.

Collin Cargill picked up his sixth save of the season, working the final two frames allowing one run on one hit.

Tulane was able to get runners on base but could not get them around to score as they were one-for-eight this afternoon with runners in scoring position. McInnis educed two-double play balls and had several big strikeouts to keep the Wave at bay.

In the first two games of the series Tulane is 1-for-17 with runners in scoring position.

Southern Miss managed only seven hits offensively, two by Mark Ellis, but it was Dillon Day who had the big blow, a two-RBI triple in the second inning.
