JENA, La. — Graveside services for Fred Dewey Parish Jr., 75, of Jonesville, who died Monday, May 3, 2010, in Jonesville, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Jena with the Rev. Jack Colclasure officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 10:30 a.m., both at the funeral home.
Mr. Parish was born March 28, 1935, in Jonesville, the son of Fred Dewey Parish Sr. and Lucia Davis Parish. He was employed by Louisiana Department of Transportation as the maintenance supervisor. He retired in 1994 after 38 years of service.
Mr. Parish loved his retired life, spending his time with his wife, children and spoiling his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Lou Parish; two daughters, Michelle Coody and husband, Jeff, of Pineville, La., and Felicia Mullen and husband, David, and their children, Lindsay, Katherine, Mary and Sarah, all of Baton Rouge; one son, Curtis D. Parish and wife, Elizabeth, and their children, Nicholas and Paul, all of Jonesville; and three brothers, George Parish and wife, Jimmie Lynn, of Radford, Va., Tuffy Parish and wife, Ginger Nell, of Jonesville and Richard “Petey” Parish and wife, Tonda, of Tampa, Fla.
Pallbearers will be Jimbo Pardue, Arnie Pardue, James Parish, Burton McDaniel, Ross McCaughey, Larry Montpelier Jr., David Parish and Nicholas Parish.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Pardue, Dr. William Coney, Joe Bondurant, Mike Brown and Pat McCaughey.
