FERRIDAY — Services for Fred Martin Sr., 98, of Ferriday, who died Friday, April 30, 2010, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mercy Seat Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Schiele officiating.

Burial will follow at Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Martin was born May 12, 1911, in Morville, La., the son of Oscar Martin and Annie Coleman. He was a retired mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Hagan Martin; his parents; five brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include two sons, Fred Martin Jr. and wife, Sandra, of Hebron, Md., and Henry Martin and wife, Desiree, of Saulsberry, Md.; four daughters, Margorie Hull and husband, Hillery, Dorothy Gale and husband, Robert, and Jo Irene Gaile, all of Saulsberry, and Barbara A. Anderson of Arlington, Texas; one sister, Mary Martin of Vidalia; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
