NATCHEZ — Services for Kenneth Stephen Carter, 37, of Fort Worth, Texas, who died Monday, April 26, 2010, will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday St. Charles Baptist Church with the Rev. James Washington officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Carter was born Feb. 2, 1973, in Natchez, the son of Katie Ray Cater and Clinton Lee Owens. He was a 1991 graduate of O.D. Wyatt High School in Fort Worth and was employed by a demolition service. He was a participant in the movie, “Freedom Roads,” that was filmed in Natchez.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dorothy Mae Carter, Roosevelt Owens Sr., and Rebecca Owens; and one aunt, Classie Palmer.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, the Rev. George E. Tennison of Fort Worth; his father of Natchez; two brothers, James Heckard Jr., and Roger Grass Carter, both of Fort Worth; three sisters, Carmelita Washington and Jamita Curtis, both of Natchez, and Yolanda Washington Williams of Dallas; one nephew, Joseph Heckard of Forth Worth; two aunts, Bertha Drew and Vera White, both of Natchez; seven uncles, Roosevelt Owens and wife, Beatrice, Ernest Owens and wife, Deloris, Jerry Owens, Patrick Owens, Jonathan Owens and Robert Owens, all of Natchez, and Alkress Carter and wife, Mary, of Foxworth; four great-aunts, Barbara Curtis of Chicago, Camille Carter and Bessie Davis, both of Natchez, and Loretta Carter of New Orleans; one great-uncle, Willie J. Carter and wife, Gertrude, of Natchez; five special cousins, Michael Carter of Natchez, Gregory Carter of Forth Worth, Alkress Barnes Carter, Michael Gabriel Carter and Samuel Dewayne Carter, all of Foxworth; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
