SAINT JOSEPH, La. — Services for Albert “Buddy” Tondell, 84, of St. Joseph, La., who died Friday, May 7, 2010, at St. Dominics Hospital in Jackson, will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Odenwald officiating.

Burial will follow at Legion Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Mr. Tindell was born April 24, 1926, in Newellton, La., the son of Albert and Mary Tindell.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in St. Joseph.

Mr. Tindell was retired from the Fifth District Levee Board and was also a barber and farmer. He served his country in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater, the Philippine Islands, Manilla, Marshall Islands and Elucian Islands. He also served with the Air Force in the 15th Fighter squadron in Honolulu.

Mr. Tindell was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Morris Tindell; and a sister, Emma Kifer.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Gwen “Lady” Tindell of St. Joseph; daughter Kayla Sevier and husband Jim of Tallulah, La.; grandson Doug Sevier; granddaughters Lauren and Nancy Sevier, and Dana Ellis; great-grandchildren Cameron, Cody and Madison; sisters, Mardell Osborn and husband Warren of Naples, Fla., and Margie Redditt and husband John of Hendersonville, Tenn.; numerous nieces and nephews and a special loving extended famil y of in-laws.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Jones, Brian Kifer, Lee Kifer, David McEachern, Milfaord McVay, L.J. Thompson, Barry Tindell and Keith Tindell.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Jubilee Sunday School Class, Bob Nall, Whit Jones and Charles Gastrell.

Memorial donations may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home or a charity of your choice.
