MONTEREY — Funeral services for Mr. Curtis Crane Greene, 74, of Monterey, who died Friday, May 14, 2010, will be at 2 p.m. today at New Era Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Baker, the Rev. Ralph Webber and the Rev. Huey Tarpley officiating.

Burial will follow in New Era Baptist Church Cemetry under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mr. Greene was born March 11, 1936, the son of General Gile Greene and Sarah Rice Greene.

He was a resident of Monterey, a retired farmer, a member and deacon at New Era Baptist Church and served and was the past president of the Monterey Rural Water Works board.

He served his country in the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Samuel Gile Greene and Leo Earl Greene and four sisters, Vera Morris Greene, Effie Aleen Greene Pecanty, Ferbia Lee Greene Russell and Judy Kay Greene.

Survivors include his wife Valda Lipsey Greene; three daughters, Tracy Welch and husband Joel of Panama City, Fla., Pauline Palmer and husband Harry of Monterey and Darlene Baker and husband Gene of Monterey; one brother, Glenn Greene of Monterey; four sisters, Mary Burley and husband Verlyn, Inis Smith and husband Richard, Bobbie Pecanty and husband Norman, all of Monterey and Inez Sturgeon and husband Charles of Hattiesburg; one grandson, Cody Curtis Welch and five granddaughters, Brooke Kalon Baker, Ashley Jean Welch, Danielle Nicole Palmer, Kaley Elizabeth Baker and Heather Liane Baker.

Pallbearers will be T.D. Pugh, Clyde Ray Pecanty, Leo Greene, A.G. Greene, Will Lipsey, Glenn Lipsey, Brad Lipsey and Jimmy Lipsey.

Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of New Era Baptist Church.

Memorial may be made to New Era Baptist Church.
