Police investigate latest car burglary

NATCHEZ — A car burglary reported on Brightwood Avenue Sunday could be tied to a string of burglaries in the Trees Subdivision last week.

According to police reports, a suspect using an unknown object shattered the driver’s side lamp light and rear glass window on a 2008 Honda Civic.

The victim stated no content was missing from the car, and no witnesses were present. Damage to the car is estimated at $800.

Late Thursday night or early Friday morning, someone shattered the rear driver’s side window of Joseph Richardson’s car, which was parked in the carport of his Live Oak Drive house.

Richardson reported $180 was stolen from the car. Cell phones, credit cards and checks were also in the car, but none were stolen.

After filing a report with the Natchez Police Department Friday morning, Richardson learned two of his neighbors’ cars were also damaged and burglarized.

Four reports were filed Friday relating to car burglaries. Two burglaries occurred on Live Oak Drive, and one burglary each occurred on Pecanwood Drive and Ashwood Drive.

In the Ashwood Drive burglary, reported at 8:52 a.m. Friday, the victim reportedly witnessed a suspect standing in his carport holding a small pen flashlight.

Anyone with information is urged to call Miss-Lou Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000. A cash reward is available.
