Lawnmower races set for Saturday in Jonesville

JONESVILLE — Weeds beware, the races are coming to town.

The Catahoula Future Farmers of America Lawnmower Races will crank up Saturday at the Louisiana Off Road Race park in Jonesville.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children if bought in advance. Admission at the gate is $15 for adults and $5 for children.

Gates open at 9 a.m.; race registration is at 9:15 a.m. under the tower. Time trials will start at 10 a.m.

Races will include the FFA member lawnmower races, professional lawnmower races and ATV races.

Anyone with a racing mower or ATV is welcome to attend.

All races will be 200-foot drag races.

The race registration fee is $20 per mower or ATV.

All drivers must wear an approved helmet, eye protection, long pants, over-the-ankle boots and neck braces.

Other activities will include the sack races, three-legged races, foot races, potato on a spoon race and tug-of-war.
