NATCHEZ — Services for Nancy Elise “Nanny” Smith, 68, of Natchez, who entered eternal life at sunrise Tuesday, May 18, 2010, in Natchez, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Hollywood Cemetery in McComb under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mrs. Smith was born April 1, 1942, in McComb, the daughter of John Wesley Sr., and Carrie Beatrice Lancaster Ratcliff. She was raised in Baton Rouge prior to making Natchez her home for the past 46 years.

Mrs. Smith was co-owner, with her husband, of Tempco Supply Company. She served as a volunteer at Assumption Catholic Church while her children were in school. She was an accomplished artist and known for the intricate work on display all around her home which she name Duck Pond Plantation. From wall murals, to paintings, to handmade birthday cards, her true spirit and soul was in her artwork. She was faithfully devoted to her family and was best known for her humor. She made life fun.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Tommy C. Smith; two daughters, Stephanie Anderson and Melissa Serio and husband, Hoss, all of Natchez; five grandchildren, Hannah Howard, Wesley Anderson, Mollie Anderson, Carmen Serio and Carrie Serio; two sisters, Sandra Gourrier and Jeanie Lynn Bondy and husband, David, all of Baton Rouge; and one brother, John Ratcliff and wife, Susan, of Prarieville, La.

Pallbearers will be Clay Bloodworth, Chad Bloodworth, Trent Bondy, Hoss Serio, William Dees, Grover Yelverton, Paul Herring and Steve Smith Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Bondy, Dr. Ed Daly, Steve Smith Sr., Howard “Dee Dee” Dees, Jimmy Willard and Jim Milton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Cathedral School, 701 Martin Luther King Street, Natchez, MS 39120 or Harvest Time Ministry, 4 Charles W. Blvd., Clayton, AL 36016.
