NATCHEZ — Funeral services for Nellie Pearl Sturgeon, 80, of Natchez, who died Thursday, May 20, 2010, in Natchez, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Laird Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bernard Waits and the Rev. Ronnie Crosby officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sturgeon was born Sept. 19, 1929, in Philadelphia, the daughter of William Yancy and Viola Estelle Jenkin Crapps. She was a member of 61 South Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John H. Sturgeon; one granddaughter, Tara Halloran; five brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Nell Dixon and V. Lynn Sturgeon, both of Natchez; three grandchildren, Melissa Jane Hall, Rebecca Lynn Ritchie and Brandy Johnnell McLeod; five great-grandchildren, Ashton Hall, Meredith Hall, Tristan Hall, Nathan Harris and Shane Harris; one brother, James Crapps of Jackson; a number of nieces, nephews and close friends and her precious dog Boomer.

Pallbearers will be John Seyfarth, Ed Henry, Glen Smith, Glen Wisner, David Lawrence and Steve Ritchie.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Baragona, Ray Satterwhite and Pat Turner.
