NATCHEZ — Services for Jean Hawkins, 73, of Natchez, who died Monday, May 24, 2010, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.
Burial will follow at Jefferson County African Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery under the direction of R.D. Mackel and Sons.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1:30 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.
Mrs. Hawkins was born Feb. 15, 1937, the daughter of Richard Jackson and Catherine White Jackson.
She was a Baptist and a housewife.
Survivors include her husband, John Henry Hawkins Sr.; six children, Gladys and John Harried, Charlie and Nellie Hawkins Sr. and Viola and Elmo Frye Sr., all of Natchez, John and Charell Hawkins of Duluth, Ga., JoAnn and Thomas Guibeau of Sunset, La., Dwane and Phyllis Hawkins of Natchez; 16 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; one god child, Andy Dorsey; five siblings, Richard and Sadie Jackson, Esther and Willie Foster Sr., Johnnie and William Herrington and Georgia and Berthone Ware, all of Natchez and Mamie and Albert Hayes of New Orleans; god sister, Ester McNealy of Natchez; two uncles, Iray and Joann Jackson of Seattle, Wash. and Handy and Johnnie Jackson of Chicago; one aunt, Luetta Smith of Chicago; life long friend, Bernice Jackson; three special devoted nurses of Sta-Home Health, Kin Morgan, Ivy Irving and Pricilla Beasley; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
