NATCHEZ — Services for James E. “Plute” Edney, 68, of Natchez, who died Thursday, May 27, 2010, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Josh Whitley officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Edney was born July 27, 1941, in Natchez, the son of Eugene and Mary Edney. He attended high school in Clarksdale. He was a retired forklift operator and painter.

Mr. Edney was also a member of the 1950s Godfather Club. He was a “big brother” who loved his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, John M. Edney, Joseph Edney, Wilbert Edney and David Edney; and two sisters, Margaret Wells and Elizabeth Edney.

Survivors include three sisters, Clara Wyatt, Peggy Buie and Cora Edney; three brothers, Phillip Edney, Johnnie Edney and Daniel Edney; seven children, Toby Gooden, Trallis Gooden, Pee Wee Gooden, Wonder Keys, Alvin Keys, Elizabeth Malone and Brandy Malone; one stepson, Izola West; 11 grandchildren; three cousins, Frank Bacon, Lucille Anderson and Norris Edney; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Kelvin Arbuthnot, Dunk Buie Sr., Dunk Buie Jr., Wilson Edney and Jerome Wells.

Honorary pallbearer will be Frank Bacon.
