Local school nurses attend statewide conference

Natchez — Janet Goldbach, Janice King and Marla Farmer, who serve as school nurses for the Natchez-Adams School District recently attended the Mississippi School Nurse Association’s annual conference.

The theme of the conference was “Health and Academics: Connecting the Dots.”

The conference was in Jackson and provided nurses with in-depth training on the assessment of heart and lung sounds in children, dental health screenings for students and the evaluation and recognition of diseases of the ear.

Days two and three found the nurses in classes devoted to caring for children with seizures, sleep disorders and dealing with school nurses’ role in the fight against childhood obesity in Mississippi.
