NATCHEZ — Approximately 1,200 Entergy customers were affected by an hour-long power failure Saturday night.
At approximately 9 p.m., a broken cross arm at Entergy’s Natchez substation caused the power to fail, Entergy Spokesman Jim Hedges said.
Power to all but approximately 10 customers was restored by approximately 10 p.m., Hedges said.
“We were able to do some switching of circuit breakers,” he said. “We were able to open and close some switches, and we put customers that were normally served by one circuit breaker on another.”
After doing that, crews at the station worked to repair the broken cross arm and service was restored to the remaining customers by approximately 2:30 a.m., Hedges said.
What caused the cross arm to break is unknown at this time, he said.
