JACKSON — Services for Virginia Barlow Estess, 88, who died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. today at Lakewood Funeral Home with the Rev. Cliff Nelson officiating.

Burial will follow at Utica City Cemetery under the direction of Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Estess was born Sept. 25, 1921, in Utica, the daughter of Johnny S. Barlow Sr. and Jenny Price Barlow. She was a graduate of Utica High School and attended Hinds Junior College on a basketball scholarship.

Mrs. Estess was a retired employee of the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service in Hinds County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Estess Sr.; her parents; and two brothers, Johnny S. Barlow Jr. and Robert T. Barlow.

Survivors include two children, Gavin Davis and wife, Dana, of Raymond and Jan Davis Scarborough of Natchez; son-in-law, Bruce Scarborough; four grandchildren, Chad Davis and wife, Meghan, Craig Davis and wife, Missy, Ginnie and Steve Scarborough; three great-grandchildren, Harper Davis, Shelby and Andrew Hipp; and special caregiver, Bessie Summers.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Trace Pointe Retirement Center in Clinton where she was a resident for nine years.
