FERRIDAY – Services for Albert Edward Chapman, 83, of Ferriday, who died Saturday, June 19, 2010, in Alexandria, La., will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clyde Ray Webber officiating.
Burial will follow at South Central Cemetery in Wisner, La., under the direction of Comer Funeral Home of Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Chapman was born Dec. 10, 1926, in Wisner, La., the son of Reece and Henrietta Chapman. He was a resident of Ferriday for 58 years and a member of the First Baptist Church in Ferriday. He was the retired owner of the Han Dee Stop in Ferriday.
Mr. Chapman was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Airborne. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Kiwanis Club in Ferriday and was very active with the Ferriday Dixie Youth Baseball program.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ina K. Chapman; one daughter, LaWynn Free; and two sisters, Bobbie Harrison and Jeanette Clement.
Survivors include one son, Gary Chapman of Ferriday; five grandchildren, Kevin Chapman and wife, Ashley, Janelle Chapman, Jay Free and wife, Karen, Tamara Free and April McCloud and husband, Jeff; 14 great-grandchildren, Layton Chapman, Reece Chapman, Logan Chapman, Avery Halford, Tristan Halford, America Johnson, Christian Free, Hailey Buckles, Alexis Buckles, Taylor Buckles, Blair McCloud, Natalee McCloud, Alyssa McCloud and Jeffrey McCloud.
Pallbearers will be John Taylor, Willie Alford, Mike Clement, Edwin Jones, Kim Jones and Jeff Lancaster.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Claude Current, Charles Stutson, Ronnie Bradford, Clifton Davis and Veller Ray Carroll.
The family would like to thank those who helped Albert Chapman in his time of need.
