FLORIEN, La. — Services for Elizabeth “Betty” Hopkins, 84, of Vidalia, who died Monday, June 28, 2010, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia, will be at 11 a.m. today at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Franklin officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Vidalia.
Mrs. Hopkins was born Sept. 16, 1925, in Rich Hill, Mo., the daughter of Charles Henry White and Edith Mae White. She was a proud and loving mother to her children, who were very lucky to have her as their mother. She had a love and a special way of taking care of children.
Betty loved to write poetry and short stories. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Vidalia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hardy Adron Hopkins; her parents; and one brother, Robert Charles White.
Survivors include two daughters, Edith Ann Hopkins and Mary Beard, both of Vidalia; two sons, Hardy Hopkins Jr. and wife, Mary Ellen, of Prarieville, La., and Thomas Hopkins and Jane Reh, both of Mena, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Jeff Hopkins and wife, Sue, of Monroe, La., Kim Luebkeman and husband, Bill, of Baton Rouge, Sarah Beard of Pensacola, Fla., Emily Beard and fiancé, Travis Barfield, both of Vidalia, Brian Beard of Ruston, La., Leslie Hopkins and Mark Hopkins, both of Benton, Ill.; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
