VICKSBURG — Services for Susie Anna “Doll” Carroll, 79, of Vicksburg, formerly of Bluehill, who died Thursday, June 24, 2010, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Standfield New Life Christian Church with the Rev. Dr. John H. Williams Sr. officiating.

Burial will follow at the Vicksburg City Cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home in Fayette.

Visitation will be from 1 to 7 today at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Carroll was born Feb. 21, 1931, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Terry and Elizabeth Scott. She confessed and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Little Zion Baptist Church in Bluehill. She later united with Standfield New Life Christian Church in Vicksburg under the pastorate of the Rev. Dr. John H. Williams Sr.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Carroll Sr.; her parents; one daughter, Joann Hedrick; two grandchildren, Shaterica Carroll and Jeremy Sims; three sisters, Clara Mae Jones, Maratha Walker and Kate Wison; two brothers, Terry and Willie Scott; and her longtime friend and cousin, Mary Lou Rankin.

Survivors include four daughters, Mary Millier and husband, Odell, Lovenia Ratcliff and Gynette Carro, all of Vicksburg, and Rosie Carroll and husband, Curley, of Port Gibson; four sons, Ben Carroll Jr. and wife, Vivian, of Cleveland, Ohio, Jerry Lee Carroll and wife, Christine, of Port Gibson, Sherry Lee Carroll and Eddie Lee Carroll, both of Vicksburg; one sister, Lucinda Briggs of Sacramento, Calif.; 16 grandchildren including two she raised as her own, Matrica Doss and husband, Charles, and Monica Carroll, all of Vicksburg; two adopted daughters, Ruby Shorter of Vicksburg and Sandra Miller and husband, Tyrone, of Fayette; 17 great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Xenoclean Ward, Betty Bell, Versia Green and Willie Mae Scott; one brother-in-law, John L. Wilson; and a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Calvin Jr., James Hill, Eugene Hutton and Bruce Edwards Sr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Carroll Jr., Jerry Lee Carroll, Sherry Lee Carroll, Eddie Lee Carroll, Charles Doss Jr., Baroncellius Hendrick and Odell Miller.
