OSTERLAND, La. — The Concordia Dixie Youth 10-year-old All-Stars ended up having an extra day to get ready for the district tournament. That’s because the tournament was postponed to today.
“The tournament got moved back a day because of all the rain they had in Monroe, La.,” Concordia 10-year-old All-Stars coach George Cupit said. “So the tournament doesn’t start until tomorrow.”
The Concordia 10s, which won its sub-district tournament, will take on the Monroe Nationals, the No. 2 team from its sub-district tournament, in the first round of the Louisiana Dixie Youth 10-year-old District Tournament today at 2 p.m. The Monroe Nationals lost to the Monroe Americans in the finals of its sub-district tournament.
“Monroe just finished their sub-district tournaments (Friday) night,” Cupit said. “They’ve got to have 36 hours of rest before their pitchers can pitch. That’s why the district tournaments have been moved back to Sunday.
The Concordia 12s will get under way today as well.
MANGHAM, La. — The Concordia 12-year-old All-Stars were another team scheduled to play today in the first round of their district tournament. However, that tournament got pushed back until today as well.
“The Monroe (sub-district) tournament got delayed Wednesday and Thursday and didn’t finished until (Friday) night,” Concordia 12-year-old All-Stars coach Whest Shirley said.
The Concordia 12s, which won its sub-district tournament, will take on the Monroe Americans, the runner-up in its sub-district tournament to champion Morehouse, in a first-round game today at 4 p.m.
