VIDALIA — Like the fires in the halls of Valhalla, Viking Street was ablaze early Sunday morning.

Someone had pushed a large round bale of hay being used for grass work in the area into the street and lit it on fire, Police Chief Ronnie G. “Tapper” Hendricks said.

An officer on patrol discovered the hay bale while it was still smoldering in the street.

The police have no suspects at this time, though Hendricks said he believes the incident was perpetuated by juveniles.
