NATCHEZ — Services for Rosalie Smoot, 90, of Dallas; formerly of Natchez, who died Monday, July 19, 2010, in Select Hospital in Dallas, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Zion No. 1 Baptist Church.

Burial will be Monday at the Natchez National Cemetery under the directions of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Smoot was born Feb. 22, 1920, in Vidalia, the daughter of Cassie Boykins.

She was employed for many years by Natchez Charity Hospital as a dietician. She loved to sing.

Mrs. Smoot was preceded in death by her mother and husband, Charles E. Smoot.

Survivors include her loving and devoted son, Farrell Smooth and his special friend, Casaundra Ballard, both of Dallas; one god daughter, Debra Young Gordon and husband, Eugene, of Natchez; six grandchildren, Thaddeus Smoot, Charles Smoot, Marshall Smoot, Amber Smoot, Daron Bouie and Crystal Bouie; two great grandchildren, Essence Smoot and Tylon Smoot; a niece, Olivia Knowles Johnson and husband, Warren, of Memphis, Tenn.; a nephew, Gregory Green of Bessemer, Ala.; one brother-in-law, James Knowles of Natchez; and a number of other relatives and friends.
