NATCHEZ — Memorial services for William Leo “Bill” Koerber, 76, of Gilbert, Ark., who died Sunday, July 25, 2010, at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison, Ark., will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at Laird Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Ark.
Mr. Koerber was born Dec. 24, 1933, in Natchez, the son of Louis Warren Koerber and Mable Tutt Koerber. William was Presbyterian. He and his wife attended Gilbert Christian Church.
William, better known as “Bill” to his friends and family, lived to the fullest and was often heard to repeat the following quote, “Most people are as happy as they choose to be. I was born happy, I lived happy and I will die happy.”
Mr. Koerber was a graduate of Natchez High School, Mississippi State University and Tulane University School of Law. He practiced law for 45 years in Vidalia until his retirement in 2003. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed being a member of the Pandella Hunting Club in Natchez.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Louis “Jack” Warren Koerber Jr. and James Edward “Buddy” Koerber; one sister, Caroline Maxine Koerber; and former wife, Katherine Sims Anderson Koerber “Kitty” Shields.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Lois Ann Weidler Koerber; three sons, James Anderson Koerber and wife, Melinda, of Hattiesburg, Ward Brinton Anderson and wife, Elizabeth, of LaPlace, La., and Paul Sims Anderson Koerber and wife, Angela, of Ridgeland; one stepson, Ryan T. Wilson and wife, Wende, of Gloster, La.; one daughter, Kara Barrett Koerber Jones and husband, Andrew, of Aledo, Texas; one stepdaughter, Sheryl Ann Wilson Mayer and husband, Frederick, of Opelousas, La.; five granddaughters, Emily Claire Koerber Montgomery and husband, Thomas Gray, Mary Katherine Koerber DeWeese and husband, Richard Dane, Laura Naquin, Kendall Naquin and Chandler Jones; three step-granddaughters, Stephanie Sandifer, Caroline Mayer and Sara Mayer; four grandsons, Christian Anderson Koerber, Paul Sims Koerber II, David Nichols Ivy and Jeffrey Paul Naquin; three step-grandsons, Tyler Sandifer, Jacob Wilson and Nathan Wilson; two great-granddaughters, Lillian Claire Montgomery and Lacy Gray Montgomery; one sister, Barbara Ann Koerber Greenwald and husband, Joseph, and their daughter, Jessica, all of Waterbury, Vt.; and cousin, Dorothy “Titter” Wilson and husband, Ed “Speedy” of Natchez.
