NATCHEZ — Services for Leroy Montgomery, 87, of Vidalia, who died Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Patton officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Montgomery was born Nov. 25, 1922, in Franklin County, the son of Kinnis and Janie Nell Martin Montgomery. He retired from the City of Natchez after 40 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Aline Montgomery; and seven brothers, Ed. Joe, Arthur, William, Gordon, Freddie and Robert Montgomery.
Survivors include his wife, Eunice Montgomery; one son, Johnny David Montgomery of Natchez; one daughter, Alice Thorpe of Vidalia; two grandchildren, Johnny Patrick Thorpe of Vidalia and Tara Elizabeth Montgomery Rigby of Biloxi; three great-grandchildren, Zachary Montgomery, Trey Rigby and Mason Elizabeth Thorpe; one brother, Hugh “Bud” Montgomery and wife, Dana, of Bogue Chitto; two sisters, Edna McCaffery and husband, Snow, of Wesson and Julia Wallace-Davis and husband, L.A., of McComb; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Kennis Montgomery, Johnny Fielder, Mike Montgomery, Robert Montgomery, Roger Wallace and Alan Dossett.
