TWENTY YEARS AGO — Bill Stahlman, who went 7-1 in his senior year at Trinity Episcopal, becomes the first athlete from the school to accept a baseball scholarship as he signs with Belhaven College.

TEN YEARS AGO — Timmy Foster strikes out 12 while he and Benji Maher each hit home runs to lead Natchez Wallace past Laurel 7-2 to win the state tournament and advance to the Dixie Youth World Series.

FIVE YEARS AGO — After losing their top three hitters, Ash Brashier, Kelly Simpson and Kendall Madsen, to graduation, the Centreville Lady Tigers will have one of the youngest softball teams in the area.
