FERRIDAY — Services for Benjamin Franklin Wynn III, 81, of Ferriday, who died Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Young’s Funeral Home Ferriday with the Rev. David Carlton officiating.
Burial will follow at Ogden Cemetery in Liddieville, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Wynn was born Jan. 2, 1929, in Georgetown County, S.C., the son of Benjamin Franklin Wynn Jr. and Florrie Mae Howard Wynn. He retired from International Paper Company after 50 years of service as a bleach plant operator. He began work with International Paper as a young man, barely old enough to be employed. He knew the company from the ground up. Before retiring he became a technical advisor for International Paper, writing a manual on the entire company.
Mr. Wynn proudly served as a cook in the U.S. Army and also during the Korean War. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Natchez. He enjoyed watching Louisiana State University football, FOX news, and spending time with his family. Mr. Wynn was a straight-forward man. He loved his family and friends deeply. He always looked out for their best interest, being a good husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, William Thurman Wynn; and two sisters, Nina Mae Wynn Petty and Addie Jeanette Wynn.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Maybelle Wright Wynn; three sons, Benjamin F. Wynn IV and wife, Marilyn, of Natchitoches, La., James Wynn and wife, Kathy, and William L. Wynn and wife, Zella, all of Leesville, La.; one daughter, Becky Book and husband, Nelson, of Ferriday; one brother, Thomas McGilbert of Georgetown, S.C.; one sister, Annette Robertson of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren, Hunter Wynn, Justin Wynn, Benjamin Wynn, Jamie Hamilton and Holly Bonnette; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin Wynn, Joel Bonnette, Timmie Blalock, Tyler Blalock, Willie Huff and Jonathan Clark.
Honorary pallbearers will be Carrol Pearson, Emmitt Keating, Lawrence Wilkinson and Rayford Huff.
