Prep softball: ACCS vs. WCCA rained out

NATCHEZ — Rainfall from the remnants of Tropical Depression 5 caused some local and area softball teams to have their games rained out Tuesday.

Adams County Christian School and Wilkinson County Christian Academy were scheduled to face each other in a pivotal MAIS District 5-AA game. But heavy rain in Woodville forced those games to be postponed.

ACCS head coach Forrest Foster said he doesn’t know when it will be rescheduled. The Lady Rebels don’t play again until Saturday at the Silliman Tournament. They will take on Parklane at 8 a.m., Silliman at 10:50 a.m., and Oak Forest at a time to be determined.

WCCA does not take the field again until next Monday when the Lady Rams host Central Private in district play at 5:30 p.m.

Franklin County’s home game against Brookhaven in non-division action was postponed and has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 31. The junior varsity game will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by the varsity game at 7 p.m.

The Lady Bulldogs’ next scheduled game is at home against Bogue Chitto on Thursday with the JV game at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity game at 7 p.m.

Centreville Academy’s non-district game at Amite School Center was cancelled due to heavy rain in Liberty and will not be rescheduled. The Lady Tigers will next play in the Silliman Tournament.

Trinity 9, Riverfield 3

RAYVILLE, La. — Rain wasn’t a problem for the Lady Saints as they jumped out to an early lead en route to a 9-3 win against Riverfield Tuesday.

Trinity scored six points in the second inning, and added two more in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Katie Steele got the win for the Saints, and also went 2-for-4 in the batter’s box. Sarah Bryan was also 2-for-4 and Christina Givens finished the evening 2-for-3.
